luminaires, in the beautiful city park ‘Fortunato Nevicati’, are installed around 1998
and are in in reasonably good condition. The light sources that are used are 125W
mercury vapor powered by a conventional ballast. On average the total power
consumption per luminaire is 140W. All the light bulbs are exchanged after
approximately 10.000 hours, every two and a half year. The light poles are four meters
high.
QL Retrofit
To create a durable retrofit easy and fast the original parts of the luminaire are used
whenever possible. The pictures show the difference between the old and new bracket.
The QL generator is mounted on a new aluminum baseplate. To position the lamp in the
existing reflector a tailored QL heatsink (black) is added.
New situation
In the
new situation the luminaires in the park are retrofitted from 125W mercury
vapor
to QL 55W. The assembly or retrofit can be done very easily within the technical
department or by the installer and takes approximately 15 minutes of work. Below you
can find the advantages of QL 55W systems compared to 125W Mercury vapour.

- Energy reduction >60% based on Mercury vapor 125W
- Reduce 60% on maintenance costs
- Low initial investment, short return of investment <3 years
- High color recognition, creates a pleasant environment for visitors, who feel safer.
- No glare
- Instant on, hot-restrike
- CO₂ reduction by re-use of the luminaire and extended lifetime of the lighting system.
